Wilson lacrosse standout Seamus Breslin

When it comes to boys lacrosse, Wilson has Berks County on lockdown.  The Bulldogs rolled over third-seeded Exeter 14-1 in the BCIAA Championship at Albright College.  Senior Seamus Breslin had a game-high four goals as Wilson won its 11th consecutive Berks County title.  The Bulldogs' winning streak against Berks League opponents was extended to an eye-popping 140 games!  "Every year we come in with a chip on our shoulder. The 10 [championships] before doesn't really mean much unless we get this one. We don't want to be the team to let up the tradition," emphasized Breslin.  Wilson held a 2-1 edge over the (12-7) Eagles after the opening quarter.  The (17-3) Bulldogs got their transition game clicking in the second period and outscored Exeter 6-0.  Breslin scored with just seven seconds remaining before halftime.  He gave Wilson an 11-1 lead with four and a-half minutes left in the third quarter.  Breslin, who also plays basketball, increased his season totals to 31 goals and 32 assists.  Cohen Renninger added three goals in the county final.  The junior is up to 53 this year.  Spencer Thenga and Jack Dendall chipped in with two goals and two assists apiece.  Dendall is a 6'3, 270-pound offensive tackle on the football team.  Junior Lucas Geissler contributed a pair of goals to the Bulldogs' balanced attack and Zach Weitzel made seven saves.  Sophomore Dylan Robinson stopped nine shots for the Eagles.  Ty Yonas scored the lone goal for Exeter in the first quarter.  The VMI commit has 239 career goals, a Berks County record.  "He's a legit player. I give him a ton of credit. He works incredibly hard. He's the real deal," acknowledged Breslin.  Yonas set a school record with 102 goals this season.  Wilson is the #4 seed in the District 3-3A playoffs.  They will host the Hempfield/Conestoga Valley winner on Thursday, May 25th in the quarterfinals.  Breslin told Paul Roberts of SV Sports that they're excited for the District 3 tournament.  "We're not really intimidated by any team. We're ready for the challenge," he stated.
