Schuylkill Valley Sports Announces Five Year Partnership with Moravian College and UnderArmour

 

Bethlehem, PA- July 14, 2016- Schuylkill Valley Sports was recently awarded a five year contract by Moravian College to outfit athletes and athletic staff in UnderArmour on-field and practice apparel/gear.  Under the contract, Schuylkill Valley Sports will supply UnderArmour apparel and equipment to the athletes, coaches, and department staff of twenty varsity sports of the 274-year-old college.

 

Moravian College pursued the deal to maximize their buying power and brand their sports with UnderAmour, a leader in the sports apparel and equipment industry.

Schuylkill Valley Sports Announces New NFL Jersey Insurance Program

 

With the uncertainty surrounding today’s NFL team rosters and players increasingly on the move, Schuylkill Valley Sports has developed a buyer’s insurance program to make customers feel more secure before purchasing their next favorite player’s jersey.  Player trades, cuts and roster changes made due to the salary cap have become much more frequent in recent years, leaving many fans frustrated and hesitant when deciding what fan gear to purchase for the upcoming season.  As exciting as it can be when your favorite team signs a new star player, it’s always disappointing when a fan favorite moves on to another team.  Schuylkill Valley Sports is hoping its new NFL jersey insurance program will help fans feel more secure when purchasing a new player jersey.

June 7, 2017-  The NSGA (National Sporting Goods Association) announced that legislation aimed at removing unfair conditions from the retail marketplace has been reintroduced. The Marketplace Fairness Act (S. 976) and the Remote Transactions Parity Act (H.R. 2193) were introduced recently, less than 24 hours after NSGA completed its third annual Capitol Hill Lobbying Day activities in Washington, DC.

 

The bipartisan RTPA bill was reintroduced in the House by Representatives Kristi Noem (R SD-AL), Steve Womack (R AR-3), Jason Chaffetz (R UT-3), Steve Stivers (R OH-15), Lou Barletta (R PA-11), John Conyers (D MI-13), Jackie Speier (D CA-14), Peter Welch (D VT-AL), Suzan DelBene (D WA-1) and David Cicilline (D RI-1). The bipartisan MFA bill was reintroduced by Senators Lamar Alexander (R TN), Mike Enzi (R WY), Dick Durbin (D IL) and Heidi Heitkamp (D ND).  “NSGA has vigorously supported these bi-partisan bills and urges Congress to make 2017 the year when the unfair sales tax loophole is finally legislated out of existence,” NSGA President & CEO Matt Carlson said. “For far too long, online-only retailers have enjoyed an unfair advantage by avoiding sales tax. I’m sure our brick-and-mortar sellers would like to enjoy the same advantage, but they’re required to collect taxes.”

 

In 2013, the Marketplace Fairness Act passed in the Senate, 69-27, with strong bipartisan support, but the House refused to address the bill. In 2015, states lost an estimated $26 billion in uncollected state sales taxes due to this online sales tax loophole, nearly $3 billion more than when the Senate voted to level the playing field. Chances are your local taxes have gone up to replace this lost revenue.  “Our members do not fear competition, but unfair competition with this government-sponsored favoritism is not good for our members, people who create jobs and support their communities in many ways,” Carlson added. “Now is the time for the House of Representatives to join the Senate in addressing this critical issue.  “We urge all fair-minded Americans to contact their Senators and Representatives and tell them how important it is to support these necessary bills. If Internet sellers shouldn’t have to collect sales taxes, neither should brick-and-mortar.”

 

NSGA’s delegation met with Representatives and staff in 19 Congressional offices last week, receiving positive receptions on NSGA’s issues, which also included support for the PHIT Act, opposition to the Border Adjustment Tax, and support for loosening regulations that burden retailers and team dealers.  Several Congressmen indicated support for PHIT and said they would sign on as co-sponsors. This bi-partisan bill encourages physical activity, reducing the costs involved for a wide range of sports and activities by allowing Americans to use their pre-tax Health Savings Accounts for activity-related purchases.
