#1 High School Basketball Recruit Justin Edwards talks with SV Sports

Kentucky coach John Calipari was at the Giant Center in Hershey to see prized recruit Justin Edwards in the PIAA-5A championship. The 6’7 forward didn’t disappoint his future coach. Edwards had a game-high 16 points and seven rebounds in Imhotep Charter’s 78-40 victory over Exeter. He scored 11 points in the first 16 minutes. The (30-3) Panthers led 43-21 at halftime. Edwards is ranked #1 in the Class of 2023 by ESPN. Imhotep won its second straight state title and ninth overall. SV Sports’ Paul Roberts asked Edwards if this year’s squad is better than the 2022 club. He replied, “I like this year’s team because everybody on our team got better, and we got tighter as a family.” Florida Gulf Coast commit Rahmir Barno dropped 15 points in the state final. Ahmad Nowell added a dozen points. The physical 6’2 guard is one of the top juniors in the nation. Edwards talked about what he needs to improve on at the college level. “Getting stronger, going to my right hand more, and being a more consistent shooter,” he said. The lanky lefty mentioned that Kevin Durant is his favorite player. Imhotep coach Andre Noble stopped by during the interview. He’s an incredible (472-99) over 19 seasons. The Panthers won all of their state playoff games by more than 20 points.
