All-State pick Gavin Rapp of Conrad Weiser
Conrad Weiser had hopes of bringing home a District 3 soccer championship last year. The Scouts' dreams, however, were crushed by Hershey in penalty kicks. "It motivated us like 300%. We were all heartbroken. It's an absolute honor to come back and win it this year because some people doubted us," Gavin Rapp told Paul Roberts of SV Sports. Nobody was doubting Conrad Weiser on Thursday night at Landis Field. The top-seeded Scouts erupted for four goals in the second half to beat tenth-seeded Kennard-Dale 5-1 in the District 3-3A Final. It's the first District 3 title for Conrad Weiser in 29 years and third overall. "It means the whole world," said Rapp. The 6'3 senior and two-time All-State selection scored twice, including the go-ahead goal midway through the second half. Taylor Line provided a brilliant cross from the left sideline and Rapp hammered it home at the 23:34 mark. Sophomore Cash Stout made it 3-1 with 17:27 remaining. Rapp found the back of the net again just two minutes later. The Lebanon Valley College commit has a staggering 44 goals this season and 83 in his career. Line beat a defender and calmly flicked the ball past Rams' goalkeeper Logan Sumner for the final margin with five minutes left. Kennard-Dale was making its first appearance in the District 3 championship. Sophomore Easton Kanatzar put the (15-6-1) Rams in front just 41 seconds into the match. Sumner made six saves in the first half. Abu Barrie was able to avoid Sumner's sliding tackle and even the score at 1-1 on a breakaway with 1:48 to go before halftime. Barrie finished with a goal and two assists. Owen Meredith and Owen Hunt each had an assist for the (22-1-1) Scouts. They piled up eleven shots and six corner kicks. Conrad Weiser is loaded with offensive firepower to go along with an unbreakable bond. "I love the guys. I've been with them my entire life. This moment is absolutely crazy. I can't believe we did it," stated Rapp.
