Allen Canaries starting pitcher Ben Moretz

Ben Moretz threw a three-hitter as Allen held off Dieruff 4-2 at Coca-Cola Park on Tuesday afternoon.  The junior right-hander was thrilled to pitch at the home of the Triple-A Lehigh Valley IronPigs.  "It feels amazing...It was just such a great experience. I love it so much," said Moretz.  Nick Skrip's sacrifice fly scored Darling De La Rosa to get the Canaries on the board in the bottom of the 2nd inning.  The Huskies couldn't handle Joel Chacon's ground ball to third with two outs in the 3rd frame.  Eliezer Santana came home for a 2-0 lead.  Dieruff tied it up with unearned runs off Moretz in the 4th and 5th innings.  Allen went back on top in the 5th when Adrian Garcia scored on a passed ball.  Moretz helped himself with a bloop RBI single in the 6th to make it 4-2.  He's hitting .323 this season with four doubles and a triple.  Moretz struggled with his command in the top of the 7th, but he got a fly ball to center field to end it with the bases loaded.  "My changeup was working really well. I saw a lot of movement. Fastball up and in was working really well," he noted.  Moretz (4-0, 0.98) tossed his second complete game as the Canaries improved to (5-6).  He's given up 21 hits over 28.2 innings with 19 strikeouts.  SV Sports worked with Adidas to provide uniforms for both teams in honor of Jackie Robinson Day.  The No. 42 could be seen on both the jersey and the cap.  "We're really culturally diverse and we come from different areas, and I love how we can all come together as a team. Jackie Robinson proved that he can come and [make] change so we want to make a difference in Allentown," remarked Moretz.  He also spoke with Paul Roberts about his favorite MLB team and players, and what he enjoys doing off the field.
