Coastal Carolina commit and Exeter TE Zack Zandier

Exeter has a Division I commit at tight end.  It's a storyline that the fans in Reiffton have heard before.  Joey Schlaffer has moved on to Penn State which means it's Zack Zandier's time to shine.  Schlaffer finished with 41 receptions including eleven touchdowns last year.  The all-state selection averaged 22.7 yards per catch for the (12-1, 6-0) Eagles.  "He taught me the little things; how to run routes and use your body to get more space open," said Zandier.  Exeter won the Section 2 title in the Lancaster-Lebanon League and reached the District 3-5A championship game.  They lost four all-state picks and 17 seniors to graduation.  Zandier told Paul Roberts of SV Sports to keep an eye on Nate Pashley, Nigel Meekins, and his younger brother Jayden Zandier this fall.  Zack caught 22 passes for 368 yards and four scores in 2022.  He was named to the BCIAA first team at tight end.  The 6'5, 235-pound rising senior received 25 Division I offers.  "It was a crazy experience. I just had to take it all in and stay humble along the way," he replied.  Coastal Carolina is in Conway, South Carolina, just minutes from Myrtle Beach.  "It's awesome. It's a great place down there. I love it," said Zandier.  The Chanticleers won nine games last season and went (6-2) within their conference.  Matt Bauer is entering his 15th year as Exeter's head coach.  Sixteen DI players have come through the program under his watch.  "I would say it's mainly our work ethic. We're just always out there working," explained Zandier.  The Eagles will have a new quarterback as rising sophomore Riley Martinez takes over for Mason Rotelli.  Zandier noted that Martinez has a good work ethic and loves football.  Exeter has won 86 games over the past decade.  The Eagles will once again be a team to watch in District 3.
