Colgate commit Kingston McKoy
Kingston McKoy doesn't need to look far for motivation. His silver medal from last year's state championship game is right next to his bed. "I look at it in my room every single day," he told SV Sports' Paul Roberts. Berks Catholic fell to Devon Prep 55-39 in the 2025 PIAA-4A Final. The Saints' warmup shirts this season include the phrase "Finish What We Started." Berks Catholic enters the state tournament with a 19-game winning streak. The (25-2) Saints will host Carver High School of Engineering & Science in the first round on Friday at 6pm.
McKoy is wrapping up a brilliant high school career. The 6'4 senior guard is a two-time All-State selection with 1,660 career points. He's averaging 22.4 ppg. this winter with a team-high 52 triples. The two-time Berks County Player of the Year is an elite defender who shoots 83% from the foul line. McKoy erupted for 35 points in the District 3-4A Championship last Friday. He went 15-of-18 from the stripe in a thrilling 58-52 overtime victory against Bishop McDevitt. "I'm running out of adjectives about Kingston," replied head coach Snip Esterly. Despite all of his accolades, McKoy has a very calm demeanor on the court. "You gotta act like you've been there before," he said. The Colgate commit is carrying a lofty 4.2 GPA. "Student-athlete, student comes first...I think being a great student and paying attention in class really sets you up for success," he noted.
Berks Catholic outlasted Reading 62-57 in overtime to claim the BCIAA title at Santander Arena last month. McKoy finished with 29 points, including ten after the third quarter. He had 17 points in the fourth quarter and overtime of the District 3-4A Final versus Bishop McDevitt. McKoy isn't satisfied, however, with the two gold medals that he has earned this season. He's focused on bringing another one home from the Giant Center in Hershey. "We got two down. We gotta get back to work and try to get the third," he stated.
