Conestoga Valley RB Jayden Johnson
Jayden Johnson's favorite wide receiver in the NFL is Deebo Samuel. Like the 49ers' star, Johnson can be used all over the field. The 6', 170-pound speedster averaged 7.3 yards per carry and 20.4 yards per catch a season ago. He scored fifteen touchdowns on the ground and nine through the air. Johnson was named a first team running back in Section 2 of the Lancaster-Lebanon League after rushing for 1,008 yards. He led Conestoga Valley with 23 receptions. The Buckskins went (9-3,5-1) and reached the District 3-5A quarterfinals. They lost to eventual champion Cocalico 42-10. Ephrata and Elizabethtown are moving up to Section 2 this year, while Manheim Central and Warwick shift to Section 3. "I think we have a lot of competition, more than last year," said Johnson. The rising senior will be tough to catch. He qualified for the PIAA-3A championships in the 200 meters this spring. Johnson finished fifth in the District 3 finals with a time of 22.46. He was seventh in the 100 meters at the District 3 meet. Johnson got his first Division I football offer from Temple during his junior year. "My brother was talking more than I was because I was in shock. It's a surreal feeling," he told SV Sports' Paul Roberts. Johnson also has offers from Maine and Monmouth. Conestoga Valley hosts Penn Manor in its opener on August 23. "I get chills thinking about the season," replied Johnson.
