Manheim Central LB Brodie Daugherty

When asked what he likes most about playing linebacker, Brodie Daugherty got right to the point.  He simply replied, "Hitting people."  The 6'2, 215-pound rising senior made a team-high 113 tackles for Manheim Central last year.  He was named a first team linebacker in Section 2 of the Lancaster-Lebanon League.  The (11-2, 6-0) Barons captured their 28th section title.  They averaged 44 points and 410 yards a season ago.  Most of that offensive firepower is gone.  Quarterback Zac Hahn, wide receiver Aaron Enterline, and running back Brycen Armold were All-State selections as seniors.  Enterline caught 80 passes for 1,508 yards and 25 touchdowns.  He opted to walk-on at Penn State. Hahn is at Indiana University of Pennsylvania after throwing for 2,870 yards and 39 scores in 2023.  Manheim Central does return six starters on each side of the football.  Tyler Groff, Jason Dougherty, Hunter Garber, and Noah Templin are back to form a solid offensive line.  Daugherty will once again be playing alongside rising senior Zion Rolon.  They're two of the strongest players on the team.  Daugherty can bench press 365 pounds and Rolon deadlifts 585 pounds.  He piled up 88 tackles and four sacks last fall.  Cody Hess and Jayvior Morales are two juniors to watch at receiver and defensive back.  For the first time in the history of the L-L League, the Barons will not reside in Section 2.  They're in Section 3 with Cocalico, Garden Spot, Warwick, Solanco, Conrad Weiser, and Fleetwood.  "I'm really excited, get to play some new teams...We'll play anybody any time," Daugherty told Paul Roberts of SV Sports.  Manheim Central is moving up to Class 5A this year.  The Barons have amassed 605 all-time victories including a record 18 District 3 titles.  The Barons claimed a state championship in 2003.  "You gotta do it for the people that played before you. It means a lot to us," stated Daugherty.  Manheim Central hosts West Philadelphia in its season opener on Friday.
