Missouri QB commit Matt Zollers
Matt Zollers had more than twenty Division I offers including Georgia, Penn State, and Pittsburgh. The Spring-Ford quarterback committed to Missouri so now he can focus on his senior season. "That was definitely a big weight lifted off my back. It's definitely nice being able to play my final season without having that weight on my back," Zollers told SV Sports' Paul Roberts. The 6'4, 210-pound All-State selection set school records last year with 2,917 passing yards and 37 touchdowns. He threw just two interceptions and ran for seven scores as the Rams finished (9-3, 5-0). Zollers enters this fall with 5,505 career passing yards. Mason Scott, an All-State pick, and Belal Abdelrahman combined for 99 receptions and 25 TD catches a season ago. Spring-Ford lost that dynamic duo to graduation. Zollers will be targeting Jordan Marsilio, Blake Turner, and 6'5 junior tight end Ryan Kerchner this year. Senior running back Jamal Lewis is one of six returning starters on offense. He ran for a team-high 739 yards and four scores on 119 carries. The Rams have eight starters back on defense. Bryce Roberts, a 245-pound defensive tackle, led the team with seven sacks in 2023. Cornerback Shane Lewis had 34 tackles and three interceptions. Anthony Earley added 36 tackles from his safety position. They're part of a senior class that is searching for its first Pioneer Athletic Conference title. Pope John Paul II held off Spring-Ford 28-27 in the PAC championship last season. "It definitely motivates us a lot. We have other team goals, but I feel like that's our main goal," said Zollers. The Rams open the season on Friday at Souderton.
