Penn State field hockey commit Macy Adams
Macy and Sydney Adams have a special bond on the field. "I love it, we have a connection between each other. We see where we are on the field without even calling for the ball. It's really nice to play with someone like that," Macy Adams told SV Sports' Paul Roberts. The sisters combined for three goals and five assists in Wilson's 8-0 win over rival Gov. Mifflin in the District 3-3A playoffs. The two schools are separated by just three miles. "This is by far the most exciting game for us," emphasized Macy Adams. Coming off a heartbreaking 1-0 loss to Oley Valley in the BCIAA Championship, the eighth-seeded Bulldogs wasted no time getting on the scoreboard against the ninth-seeded Mustangs. It was 3-0 after eleven and a-half minutes. Anna Abboud knocked in her own rebound four minutes into the first round matchup in West Lawn. Sophomore Izzy Cammarano slammed home another rebound to make it 2-0. Sydney Adams found the back of the net with 3:32 left in the first quarter. She's ranked among the top 100 players in the Class of 2028 by MAX field hockey. Macy Adams, a senior and honorable mention All-State selection, raced down the right sideline and found Sydney in front of the cage for a 4-0 lead with 4 minutes remaining in the second quarter. The next goal looked like an instant replay, but this time it was Ryan Leaman on the other end of Macy's pass. Wilson was on top 5-0 at halftime. Sydney picked up her third goal with 3:14 to go in the third quarter. She also dished out two assists. Abboud and Leaman, a North Carolina lacrosse commit, each scored again in the fourth quarter. Abboud has 18 goals and 9 assists during her freshman campaign. "I think she's gonna be amazing. She's so good already. It's gonna be exciting to see how good she is when she gets older," said Macy Adams. The (16-6) Bulldogs finished with a 25-2 advantage in shots and a 11-2 edge in corners over the (13-7-1) Mustangs. Sydney Adams has a team-high 19 goals and 11 assists this year. Her older sister has provided 11 goals and 8 assists. Their parents were both outstanding athletes at Wilson. Ellen (Wolf) Adams went on to play field hockey at Maryland. Chris Adams was a standout quarterback at Gettysburg College. Macy will continue her field hockey career at Penn State. "I thought the atmosphere [there] was always very high energy. I liked the camaraderie between the team. Everyone seemed like they were friends and not just teammates," she explained. The Bulldogs have a balanced attack this fall. Laura Crocona, a Kutztown basketball commit, has 17 goals. Sidni Templeton and Sophie Wilchek were both second team All-State picks last year. Templeton is headed to Saint Joseph's University. Wilson has a tough test in the District 3 quarterfinals on Saturday. The Bulldogs travel to top-seeded Lower Dauphin at 1pm. "I think it's a big challenge, but we play better when we have big challenges," said Macy Adams.
