Ruben Rodriguez with SV Sports after District Championship
Reading completed a three-peat by beating Cumberland Valley 55-54 in overtime in the District 3-6A Championship at the Giant Center in Hershey. It's the Red Knights' 24th District 3 title. "We stuck together through the thick and the thin. We fought a lot of adversity. We can win any game when we're playing as a team," said Ruben Rodriguez. The 6'2 senior guard provided 12 points, 6 assists, and 6 rebounds. The Rider commit found Yadiel Cruz who drew a foul with three seconds remaining in overtime. Cruz made both free throws to give Reading the lead. "The whole time he was laughing and smiling. Once I saw that, I knew he was good. He told us he was gonna knock it down," emphasized Rodriguez. Aris Rodriguez, a 6'5 senior guard, had a team-high 18 points and 5 steals. He sank four treys. Myles Grey chipped in with nine points. The (27-1) Red Knights started five seniors. "We've been dreaming about this our whole life," mentioned Rodriguez. He won a District 3 championship as a freshman at Muhlenberg before helping Reading claim District gold the past three seasons. Rodriguez replied, "It's a blessing. I just want to thank my teammates. I couldn't get here by myself." He enters the state playoffs with 1,912 career points. SV Sports' Paul Roberts also found out about his go-to fast food restaurant. Here's a hint, 4 for $4.
