Softball Player of the Year Alex Trevena

Alex Trevena wasn't happy with her performance on the softball field in 2024.  "I didn't have the season that I wanted to have last year. I didn't even make All-County, so I worked as hard as I could and didn't worry too much about stats," Trevena told SV Sports' Paul Roberts.  Her hard work paid off in a big way.  The Conrad Weiser shortstop was named the Class 5A Player of the Year in Pennsylvania on Tuesday.  "It was definitely not expected. I thought I had a good shot at making All-State, but I definitely was not expecting Player of the Year. That was a good surprise," replied Trevena.  She had a staggering .690 batting average and a 1.091 OPS this spring.  Trevena piled up 22 extra-base hits including four home runs.  In 20 games, the Kent State commit scored 39 runs, knocked in 41 more, and stole 41 bases.  She was much more than just a softball player for the Scouts.  Trevena was an All-Division basketball selection and finished sixth in the BCIAA girls golf tournament.  Conrad Weiser's girls basketball team improved from (6-16) to (17-11) under first-year head coach Chris Kline.  The Scouts reached the state playoffs for the second time in program history.  "That was the most fun season that I've had playing basketball. It was great to see how we all worked together," emphasized Trevena.  The 5'7 guard made a team-high 50 three-pointers and averaged 8.4 points.  In addition, she qualified for the District 3 golf tournament for the second straight year.  Trevena carried a 4.3 GPA while being a multi-sport athlete.  "It's fun to play different sports and not just be focused on one thing the entire year. You get to be friends with a lot of people and have a lot of great teammates," she said.

I had the pleasure of coaching Alex in high school softball. She is quiet but you’re not going to find anyone who is more dedicated and hard working. She will have a successful college career and be good with her career.
