USA 15U pitcher Greyson Bell

Greyson Bell is a southpaw who throws over 90 mph with nasty off-speed stuff.  He fired four shutout innings with seven strikeouts and no walks in Daniel Boone's season opener against Pottsville.  Bell limited the Crimson Tide to one hit.  Not a bad performance, especially considering that he's only 15 years old.  "He's unbelievable....his spin rate on his off-speed [pitches] is above major league average," said Blazers' head coach Kolbie Reeser.  Bell is rated the #4 overall prospect in the Class of 2028 by Baseball America and the top lefty.  "At this point, it's just trying to keep a level head, not get too focused on it. I've worked hard to get where I'm at and I'm not gonna take that for granted. You can't worry about the rankings too much," Bell told SV Sports' Paul Roberts.

Bell has been referred to as a baseball nerd and it doesn't bother him.  "Very fair, I hear it all the time," he replied with a smile.  The 6'2, 185-pound sophomore tracks all of the numbers during his bullpen sessions.  He pays close attention to RPMs, movement, arm path, and velocity.  "I hit 94 mph last September. I hit 92 so far this year," he noted.  Bell throws five pitches and he's working on a cutter.  His "kick change" resembles a knuckleball and he utilizes a sweeper against left-handed batters.  Bell pitched for the USA 15U team that won the Pan-American Championships in Mexico last year.  He tossed four hitless innings with eight strikeouts in a victory over Costa Rica.  "There's no other place that you can get an experience like that. You're around the best coaches, the best kids and playing the best kids from other countries. It's the most fun I've ever had on a baseball field," emphasized Bell.

Daniel Boone is hoping to have more fun this spring after a (6-14) campaign last season.  The Blazers return seven starters.  They fell to Pottsville 4-3 in eight innings on a chilly Saturday afternoon with wind gusts up to 40 mph.  "I think we have a lot in store for us for 2026," stated Bell.
